How to Recognise Depression

We’ve all heard the comments about ‘Sad Sack’, ‘Mr Grumpy’ or phrases like ‘Smile, I’ll pay for the stitches!’ or ‘Stop moping around’. It saddens me every time I hear a remark like that, something insensitive or said out of plain ignorance, usually by people who have little or no contact with people who suffer from depression, and most certainly do not have a loved one or family member that suffers from depression or any other mental disorder, that can so easy get a tight grip on a sufferers life. It’s almost tabboo if you think about it. Suffering from depression or mental health problems, is something that most people feel ashamed to admit. Who wouldn’t, with comments like those above aimed right at you. If you have suffered from major depression or have had an episode of depression that has contributed significantly to a change in your daily life, facing up to comments like those above is something that you will have to accecpt sooner or later. What about those people who don’t suffer a major depression or severe episode, whether life-threatening or not? Those of us who definately don’t have depression and definately don’t need to see a shrink to confirm what we already know: that we are not depressed! This brings me to the core of this article: How do you recognise depression? It is so very important to be vigilant. To be aware of the warning signs, and the earlier they are spotted, the better. Why? Because being depressed leads to behaviour that is not helpful. Behaviour that over time, is reinforced day after day, month after month. Slowly but surely getting a firm grip on your life. It is much harder to spot a change in behaviour if it occurs and develops gradually over time. But what are these signs and behaviour that we should look out for? The most common symptom of depression and one which most people think is the only one is having a persistant empty or ’sad’ mood. This is not what can sometimes be reffered to as feeling ‘down in the dumps’. The mood will last from several weeks at least. At which point you should see a psychiatrist or doctor. A feeling of pessimism, hopelessness or helplessness and being critical of oneself for never being good enough at anything no matter what we do. Depression can lead to a lack of interest in persuits someone usually enjoys. Feeling lethargic or having no enegry or drive, even for sex, is another symptom of depression that can slowly be re-enforced over time. Trouble with sleeping and eating is a symptom that most people would not usually associate with depression. Sleeping disorders are often dismissed as having developed a mild case of insomnia that will surely go away over time. Some people wake early in the morning and are unable to fall back asleep. Eating disturbances to, especially in women, can hide the depression, because the first thing that will come to mind is anorexia or bulimia. This is true, but we also need to place these symptoms in context, which is why it is so important to know the facts and symptoms of depression so that we can see the bigger picture. Depression often goes hand in hand with anxiety. Anxiety can also cause sleeping disturbances, as well as a feeling of dread, increased heart rate and more severely, panic attacks. Depression and anxiety can easily knock our confidence levels as both can lead to difficulty concerntrating and remembering or making decisions. These symptoms can climax with devistating effect. Within the workplace they can lead to a complete nervous breakdown where the person no longer knows, or can’t remember how to do their job or how they even got there. Nothing makes sense and it can be very frightening when you are faced with a situation like this where you no longer know what is happening around you, or much less, why you are feeling this way. Depression can also manifest itself through persistent physical symptoms or pains that do not seem to respond to treatment. Irritable and losing ones temper are also symptoms of deppression, seen more often in males than females. Thoughts of suicide, attempts and plans are never to be taken lightly. Often, suicide attempts are a cry for help. Sometimes they are not. A person can be diagnosed with depression if four or more of the symptoms above have been present in a two week period or more. Not everyone will have the same symptoms so it is important to be aware and look for signs of all symptoms of depression. Remember, only a doctor or psychiatrist can diagnose depression. Legal Designations Of People Under US Immigration Law

By Marcelade Vivo Here are some common terms for people who are pursuing action under US immigration law. These are some definitions of common terms that crop up in the everyday, though most people have only a vague idea about what they actually mean; here is a chance to find out. Citizen: A citizen is someone who hold citizenship, which is defined as state wherein a person holds membership in a political community and whose rights, social and political, are defended by the country where they maintain citizenship. A citizen has political rights, such as voting, whereas a non-citizen does not. While similar to the term ‘nationality;’ citizenship differs because you can have a nationality with having citizenship (this means you are subject to the laws of the country of your nationality, but have no political participation rights). It is also possible to have political rights without being the national of a state as long as you are a citizen. Native-born citizen: A native-born citizen is a citizen who was born in their country of citizenship. If a person is born in any country, they are automatically given fully legal citizenship at the moment of birth. A person is considered to be a citizen at birth if theyre jus soli, or born in the country in a certain place, even with non-native parents. They are also considered a citizen at birth via jus sanguinis, which is descent from a citizen of the country in which they were born. Either of these factors or a combination of both constitutes natural citizenship. If a person is both born in the country of citizenship to citizens of that country, they are considered a native-born-citizen. Both positions have all the same legal rights in a country; they’re simply different ways of categorizing people. Naturalized citizen: A naturalized citizen is a person who chooses to voluntarily apply for citizenship (and gets it) in a country that is not their place of origin. People who apply for naturalization run the gamut from immigrant workers to refugees and aliens. Usually a person must meet certain requirements before becoming a naturalized citizen. Dual citizen: A dual citizen is a person who holds citizenship in two countries. An example might be if a child was born to Costa Rican parents in the US. They would hold not only US citizenship, but Costa Rican citizenship as well. Another example would be if a child was born to an American parent and a Costa Rican parent in Costa Rica. The child would be a Costa Rican citizen, but could apply for naturalization in the US. Keep in mind that some countries, like the US and Cuba, don’t allow dual citizenship due to unresolved political disputes. Alien: Legally, an alien is anyone who is not a natural or native citizen of the country in which they live or work. Legal aliens are those allowed to stay in a country if they meet a specific set of criteria; a resident alien is one who has a permanent or temporary living space; a non-resident alien is what anyone is considered if they legally visit another country other than their own; In law, an alien is a person who is not a native or naturalized citizen of the land where they are found; an illegal alien is a citizen of one country who resides illegally in another country; an enemy alien is a person designated an enemy of the country they’re in on. How to Deal with Rejection in Dating Women

By Rion Williams Are women actually interested in you when they first see you? Or is it that they are interested in what they are seeing as a reflection of their own ideals and expectations? And what about when women reject you or don’t even give you a chance? Has this hurt you before even though other guys will tell you not to take it personally or to just ‘keep on approaching and you’ll get over it’? Well I’m going to help you deal with this ‘rejection’ and set it more straight right now (for free). What’s really going on are many different things and on different levels. I want you to be able to differentiate a woman’s response to you so that you can understand it so that it doesn’t hurt you or even affect you but rather that you can learn what hasn’t been working and take advantage of what does work. When a woman sees you for the first time, she is extrapolating every little detail about you to determine whether you might be a fit for her. These usually accurate judgments she is making off of the smallest details about you will help protect her or open you up to having a chance with her. In the future I will get deeply into getting yourself to the point where you are communicating that you are everything she could want even if you don’t have the best looks or money, age, etc. But for now, this data that she is judging off of you is either working for you or against you. You may have had women blow you off or flat out reject you after you approached and started talking or they never even gave you a chance before you approached. Is this something you should take personally? I don’t want to give you a shallow answer, I want to give you the MEANING behind it; the schematics and reasoning so bear with me and it will be worth it. Does a woman even know you when they she first sees you? Then how can you possibly accept any kind of rejection? Just because you approached her and she rejected you does not mean that you have a low character or are undesirable. Does it? Here’s the bad news; some of the readers on this list may actually have a low character and the women ARE judging accurately (albeit without knowing more b/c they feel they don’t need or want to find out more). This can all be changed so that any man can not only more accurately portray more of what she is attracted to but actually BE that man in congruity. The primary key is for him to get in touch with his own natural/ universal character and stop relying so much on his limited independent or social character. The rest of the guys probably do have a higher independent or social character but just aren’t being themselves when they approach a woman. They’re using a pick-up persona or player front or they’re just being a nice guy (overly nice and not their true self). Otherwise they’re just not in touch with their natural/universal character in order to spark attraction anyways. Too many guys these days (and it’s being taught) are focusing on the social and even independent (I’m a nice guy) parts of their character when it comes to attracting women. This sets a man up for rejection because these two areas are the least important and are what women respond to the least when it comes to attraction and her wanting you; it’s just really hard to see through it when women have become the rulers of the social ‘matrix’. Natural order is flipped around in our social behaviour patterns so you just have to see through all of the social influence and deal with her biology; the one thing that doesn’t change and is what is the essence of what she desires that (healthy) men would realize. So if you are focusing on your social ‘pick up game’ you’re going to have to get real good at it and then because of your high character, the charts work in reverse so that eventually she may feel a spark of attraction. In other words: You have to talk her into it and let her realize that you are a man of high character. This takes longer because you started on the wrong end of the character continuum in your communication and portrayal of yourself to her. Like I said it also sets you up for failure because you have to get all of the words just right and her temperance is wavering. Hopefully this will help you understand why men are rejected more and perhaps yourself in the past sometimes. Understanding it is key to putting it in it’s place and then changing to do the more effective things. When you are a man of high natural/universal character and communicate this with your body language (often enough alone), the universal/natural part of the woman knows to respond to you and you don’t have to use words. She is prewired to know how to respond and be attracted to a man that has a strong connection to his universal/natural (which used to be almost all men but people were more localized then). Today, very few men are in full touch with this and those that are, are the guys that are scoring the most with women. It’s that simple. When you can get in touch with the natural/universal power that is greater than you (and is your inheritance) you can have that power to create attraction (naturally) and make it a part of your own character…add it to your game and it will make ALL the difference. You won’t even have to deal with rejection anymore because you’ll be able to read and communicate with women on the nonverbal level (the unspoken), that which was formerly invisible. So back to the rejection issue…when a woman sees you and you aren’t effectively communicating that you are a man of high character (either incongruently or because you just aren’t there yet), she most likely won’t give you a chance. The key is to understand where you are on the character continuum. If you ARE a great (nice) guy, then remember that she is just judging her initial impression of you. You may have a high independent character and be a great guy so just separate that from the fact that you were currently LOW on the natural/ universal part of your character and that is the part she was disapproving of, not YOU. So don’t take it personally. When you do develop a high character across the charts not only will you never have to deal with rejection again but when you play it by certain rules (your rules) SHE will be the one who is rejected or disqualifying herself to you and you will have the power by far. You will always have the last word. All you really have to have even if you have a low independent and social character/status is a strong connection to your natural ability (esp. if you aren’t good looking, poor or are much older). So if you’ve been focusing on the social character and using techniques and pick-up lines to develop your character to be able to pick a woman up…just consider working on your natural/ universal character instead; it’s what matters so much that a woman will HELP you pick her up by giving the right signals when you do have a high character. You won’t even need pick up lines then. In fact it’s not until recently that we actually had pick up lines or a need to study this. You just have to differentiate the forced reality from the natural, timeless reality of attraction and female response and separate out all of what doesn’t matter (such as her fickle independent character when it comes to attraction and don’t deal with it). Prevent rejection and isolate the possibility of it by understanding the model magnet system and charts. She isn’t rejecting you, she’s just placing a perception onto you and judging you initially to see if you meet her expectational response/ideal. I like to say; She can’t sleep with a man of low (m.m.) character just as much as you can’t sleep with an ugly, fat chick. And if you’ve taken one for the home team, that’s about as often as she slept with a man of low character (despite his looks). So make sure that you not only communicate the right things but BE the man of the highest character that you can. It’s more important than your social character/status or your own inner game and personality, it’s about your connection to the universal power of masculinity and secure inner strength. The feminine energy in her will rule over her fickle independent behavior and her body just may not be able to resist. This can all happen within a few seconds of her seeing you. At this point women will be approaching you like crazy and throwing out all kinds of signs because this kind of man who is in touch is so rare these days. The works already cut out for you. What would it be worth for you to turn the tables, never get rejected and live that kind of lifestyle with women no MATTER your looks, age, income or social status? It’s not a trick. It’s real. And it’s every man’s inheritance but he has to embrace and accept it. I am the messenger because this power is greater than the greatest of any man in history’s own independent character. You don’t have to be a superstar pick up character, you just have to be a man of (natural) character and you’ll be able to catch women’s interest just by walking in the room. And when you’re already spurring attraction in her and she can trust you by your body language, there’s less of a chance you’ll get rejected anyways. Walking for Fat Loss?

By Jesse Cannone With obesity and disease increasing dramatically, many fitness experts are recommending walking for weight loss and fitness. Some are even going so far as saying that walking is the best way to burn fat and lose weight. I strongly disagree with this and am going to show you why walking is NOT effective at burning off body fat. Yes, you read that correctly… Walking is NOT effective at burning body fat and if your goal is fat loss you might be wasting your time. I am not saying that walking is not beneficial, I am saying that if fat loss is the primary goal, there are far better choices that will deliver far better results. The primary benefits of walking are increased blood flow and circulation, improved recovery, and a strengthened immune system. There are several reasons why walking in not the best choice when it comes to fat loss. Here are just a few: Walking does NOT burn a lot of calories The lower the intensity of the activity or exercise the smaller the number of calories burned per unit of time. For example, you can burn more calories in 15 minutes of bicycling at a high intensity level than you can in 45 minutes of easy walking. Walking does NOT result in a large increase in metabolism Another downside to walking is that because its generally low intensity it results in only a small increase in metabolism that will only last approximately 1-2 hours after the walk. On the other hand, metabolism increases are larger and last longer (4-24 hrs or more) when you perform high intensity cardio workouts. Walking does NOT deplete muscle glycogen Low intensity exercise like walking does not deplete muscle glycogen levels and therefore, later that day if you have excess calories they will likely be stored as body fat whereas if you deplete the glycogen the excess calories will primarily be stored in the muscles. So why then do so many fitness and health experts recommend walking for weight loss? One reason is that people dont want to hear that they have to work hard so they figure some activity is better than none. Another reason is that the body burns more fat for fuel when exercising at an easy pace, however, the total amount of energy used is so small that you end up burning off little body fat. Thats also why when you choose the fat burning program on your treadmill or bike it has you exercise at any easy level. Yes, youre burning fat, but so little that youd have to exercise at that easy pace for hours and hours each day. High intensity cardiovascular/aerobic exercise is much more effective in burning off the excess body fat. In fact, several studies have been done to prove this. In one study they compared one group who did moderate level aerobics for 45 minutes with another group who performed high intensity workouts for 15 minutes. They did before and after fitness testing including body fat analysis and found that the group who performed the high intensity aerobics lost nine times as much body fat! Want more proof? Compare the bodies of a walker, marathon runner, and sprinter. If you are not familiar with what a sprinters body looks like, it is very muscular and has little body fat while on the other hand the body of a walker will likely have the opposite, little muscle and more fat. The sprinter does little or no low intensity exercise and does primarily short hard bursts of work while the marathoner overtrains so much they burn off both the body fat and the muscle and thats why they tend to look almost sickly thin. So what should you do then if your main objective is to shed those excess pounds of body fat? Two things: Perform some form of high intensity cardio 2-4 times per week Stabilize blood sugar to minimize the storage of new fat I know some of you by now are saying I cant do high intensity exercise, I have a bad knee and dont worry, I have a solution for you. The good news is that high intensity is all relative to you and your current fitness level. For example, fast walking up and down hills may be high intensity for you… it all depends. So dont think that you have to start running or something like that. Just slowly start to increase the intensity of your cardio workouts while also maybe decreasing the time because you can either work hard or you can work long. Also, you can make almost any activity or exercise high intensity…. here are a few examples: increase your speed use an incline or hills increase resistance perform intervals ( the most effective method) Obviously, some exercises/activities or better suited than others but the point is if you want to burn more fat and make your workouts as productive as possible you need to increase the intensity. As well as a toner and the essential moisturizer, you can find anti aging products designed specifically to lighten age spots, to protect the tender skin under the eyes, to treat dry lips, and to manage acne and blemishes. If you would like to reduce wrinkles, alpha hydroxy acids and Retin A are the modern miracle treatments and they can be prescribed by your doctor. Whatever cleansing, moisturizing, or problem-solving skincare products you use, if you forget your sunscreen, it is all a waste of money and effort.
